Huntsville Chapter Scholarship Application Deadline: March 31, 2010
• One or more scholarships may be awarded annually. Scholarship awards can range in amounts from $500 to $1,500 per recipient.
• Scholarships are limited to persons attending accredited colleges, universities, or professional schools of accounting in the state of Alabama who are pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in accounting.
• Applicants must be part-time or full-time students who have completed the basic courses of accounting with an intention to continue in an accounting career.
• Applicants must obtain a transcript from the registrar of the school showing grades and courses taken. The transcript is to be submitted with the application.
• The scholarship committee or their designated representatives may choose to conduct personal interviews with the applicants.
• The applicant’s need for financial assistance will be a primary determining factor.
• Scholarship recipients will receive a letter notifying them of their selection, and they will be honored at the chapter’s Student Night in April.
• Scholarship awards will be sent upon notification from the school that the student has enrolled and fees are due. The check will be made payable to the school to apply against the amount due from the student.
• All candidates will receive an acknowledgment of their applications.

CPA Review Scholarships – Becker, Kaplan, or Yaeger Deadline is March 1, 2010 Purpose: To provide registration for a future CPA Review course. Criteria: Scholarship awards are presented to ASWA members only. This certificate is only valid for courses occurring after the scholarship has been awarded, and cannot be retroactively applied to previous CPA review coursework at Becker, Kaplan or Yaeger. Winners will be notified by April 1, 2010 with scholarship certificates for courses starting on or after June1, 2010.
Certification Scholarships Deadline is March 1, 2010 Purpose: To support the exam fees of any one of the following certifications: CPA, CFP, CFE, CIA, CMA or CVA. Criteria: Scholarship awards are presented to ASWA members only. Candidates are those who have passed all parts of the exam during the 18 months prior to January 15, 2010 and are eligible for certification. Documentation required. Winners will be notified by April 1, 2010.
2-Year College Scholarships Deadline is April 1, 2010 and must be submitted through Huntsville Chapter Purpose: For those attending Community, State or 2-Year Colleges towards an accounting or finance degree.
Criteria: Scholarship awards are presented to community college students entering their second year of an Associates Degree Program who have completed 15 semester hours or the equivalent by time of application deadline. Candidates must have a minimum cumulative college grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) and be majoring in accounting or finance. Scholarship candidates will be reviewed on leadership, character, communication skills, scholastic average and financial need. Please Note: 2-Year scholarships are selected and awarded in May 2010 for the upcoming 2010-2011 academic school year.
Undergraduate Scholarships Deadline is April 1, 2010 and must be submitted through the Huntsville Chapter Purpose: To support the costs of attending 3rd, 4th or 5th year towards an accounting or finance degree.
Criteria: Scholarship awards are presented to students who have completed their sophomore year of college (or 60 semester hours or the equivalent by time of the application deadline) and are majoring in accounting or finance. Candidates must have a minimum cumulative college grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent. Scholarship candidates will be reviewed on leadership, character, communication skills, scholastic average and financial need.
